Dance Images Instructor Bios

Ms. Diane King

 

Ms. King is the Founder and Director of DANCE IMAGES. She began her dance training at the age of three.  Attending Illinois State University, she received a Bachelors Degree in Dance and Business as well as that University’s award for Outstanding Creativity and Achievement. Ms. King has performed locally, as well as in Europe, with the American Heritage Dancers. Working with youngsters and adults throughout classroom teaching, workshops, and lecture demonstrations, Ms. King founded DANCE IMAGES in 1992. Her teaching style encourages physical activity, discipline, technique, and lots of fun! She has been teaching for over 20 years. Ms. King and her husband, John, reside in Tinley Park.  

 

Ms. Lindsay Johnson

 

Ms. Lindsay has grown up with Dance Images, having started dancing at the age of three.  Ms. Lindsay attended Illinois State University, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Special Education and also Concordia University of Chicago to receive a Masters Degree in Administration.  She is currently an assistant principal in New Lenox.  She has been teaching at Dance Images for 20 years.  Ms. Lindsay's performance background includes Sleeping Beauty, the Nutcracker, and countless Dance Images productions.  Ms. Lindsay lives in Tinley Park, with her husband, Kurt, their sons Bryce and Brooks, and of course their dog, Piqué.

Ms. Brenda Langan

 

Ms. Brenda began training at the age of three in the south suburbs with Carol Hutchinson. She continued her training with the Chicago City Ballet School under the tutelage of Maria Tallchief, Homer Bryant, & Anna Paskevska. She began her professional career at the age of 16 with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Wisconsin Ballet Theatre in Green Bay. She then went on to dance with Fort Wayne Ballet in Indiana, Charleston Ballet Theatre in South Carolina, Bryant Ballet in Chicago, Ballet Eddy Toussaint in Florida & Quebec, Canada, and Columbia City Ballet in South Carolina. Upon moving back to Illinois to be near her family and start her own family she became a guest artist for Illinois Ballet in Peoria under the direction of Mary Price Boday. As a member of Illinois Ballet, she also performed with Opera Illinois, Cedar Rapids Opera, and the National Ballet of Panama in South America. Brenda was featured in a publication of the Peoria edition of Arts Alive as well as in a book titled Ballerina Girl, which features the photography of Richard Curry. She has worked with many world-renowned teachers and choreographers, of which many pieces were original works including, Allegra Kent, Maria Tallchief, Melissa Hayden, Stephanie Ballard, Mark Dendy, Jill Eathorne Bahr, Eddy Toussaint, Anna Marie DeAngelo, Septime Webre, Jergen Schneider, and Mary Price Boday. Though she has retired from performing professionally she has continued to pass on her knowledge through teaching. This is her 14th season on staff at Dance Images. 

 

Ms. Tracy Macke

 

Ms. Tracy has been dancing for 22 years and graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Dance. She is trained in ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. While attending Columbia she had the privilege to work with and take class from Jeff Hancock, Reggie Wilson, Margie Cole, Anna Paskevaska, Banu Ogan, Michael Cole, and many more. She also had the opportunity to take master classes with members from Merce Cunningham Company, Alvin Ailey Company, Joe Goode,  Urban Bush Women, etc. Tracy enjoys working with children and loves to further their knowledge through the gift of dance. Ms. Tracy resides in Frankfort with her husband Tom and two adorable dancers, Rory and Fiona.

 

Ms. Bridget Wetzel

 

Ms. Bridget is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in elementary education and dance.  Ms. Bridget has performed in countless Dance Images performances.  Ms. Bridget loves teaching at Dance Images!  Ms. Bridget resides in Chicago.

 

Mr. Steven Spanopoulos

 

Mr. Steven Spanopoulos is a proud AEA Member and Jeff Award Nominated choreographer/ instructor/tapper residing in the SW Suburbs of Chicago. Steven has had the honor of teaching for Roosevelt University at Joffrey Chicago, Columbia College Chicago, and for North Central College, Naperville. In addition to helming "eDIt" Competition Team and foreseeing tap classes here at Dance Images, he is also on staff at The Academy of Dance Arts in Lombard and Momentum Dance in Homer Glen. He subs at Loyola University, Lou Conte, The School at Porchlight, and several suburban studios. Steven can also be found adjudicating and instructing for Dance Educators of America and Legacy Dance Championships. Away from the classroom, Steven recently performed at The Mercury Theatre (The Producers). He has also been on the stages of Chicago Shakespeare Theatre (Disney's The Little Mermaid), Drury Lane Oakbrook (Billy Elliot and Thoroughly Modern Millie), The Paramount Theatre (42nd St.), Theatre at the Center (What a Glorious Feeling, 42nd St., Singin' in the Rain, A Chorus Line, and State Fair), The Marriott Theatre (My One and Only and 42nd St.), and Pheasant Run Dinner Theatre (Chicago).

 

Mr. Brian Duncan

 

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Brian began training at age 6 with the nationally recognized Steppin’ Out – The Studio, under the director of Phyllis Balagna.  His study included ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, lyrical and modern dance.  While growing up, he had the opportunity to train with such choreographers as Joe Lanteri, Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Greg Russell, Mandy Moore, Josh Bergasse, and countless others.  “Professional Brian” has been performing in various musicals and dance concerts for over 10 years at various Chicagoland venues including Drury Lane Theatre, The Paramount Theatre, and Theatre at the Center.  Brian holds a B.F.A. from Rockford University in Musical Theatre Performance, and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity.
